Preparing your home for Christmas
Christmas is almost here! If you’re having guests over for a few days, it is a good idea to start tidying and styling the different areas in your home. We all know that people crave comfort and here are a few important tips to create that for your guests.
Starting with your guest room, apart from a bed, there are a few other necessaties to make your guests feel more comfortable:
- An alarm clock, so they can keep track of time, especially when coming from a different state or country
- Bedside lamps to create atmosphere and to read at night
- Their own clean towels, include a hand towel
- Create some space in the wardrobe; if they are staying for a few days, they don’t want to be living from a suitcase
- Make sure the bedding is clean and fresh
- Vacuum the guest room, as rooms that are unoccupied for a while, tend to gather dust that makes it quite musty
- Lastly, add some fresh flowers for a colourful touch
Be prepared by cleaning your bathroom, it is probably one of the most important things, try getting it as hygienic as possible, style it up with a plant and hand soap and make sure toilet paper is available for your guests to find.
Set up a drinks cart/trolley somewhere accessible in your home. Have a look at these stylish drink trolleys available in stores now.
Use some of these accessories to style your own trolley for your guests to enjoy:
- Ice bucket
- Liquor mixes
- Tongs
- Succulent for decor
- Serviettes
- Glasses
- Decanter
So make sure you get all your glassware sparkling before your guests arrive. An easy way to do this is to rinse the outside of the glass in vinegar – don’t worry about the smell, as it will fade as it dries.
Burn a few good quality candles around different rooms in your home before your guests arrive.
Make sure that you have time out alone as well, and don’t be afraid to ask them to help with laying the table or cleaning up after dinner, most of them will be happy to help! Having guests over can be overwhelming but can also add extra stress.
May the peace and blessings of Christmas be yours.
